UMOS Back to School Fair
Milwaukee Achiever connected with lots of moms and dads at the UMOS Back to School Fair on Friday, August 7, 2009. We distributed free books to as many children as possible, and talked with their parents about learning opportunities at Milwaukee Achiever to prepare for their GED, improve their English language skills, or gain new workplace skills.
Due to the increasing demand for adult literacy program information, we distributed every pamphlet and brochure in our supply. Our partnership with Executive Women International and their continuing effort to collect new and gently used children’s books allowed us to hand out more than two hundred books for children of all ages. The children’s book distribution helped start conversations with parents who are considering heading back to school at the same time they prepare their children for the fall semester.
We’re grateful for the positive response we received at the UMOS event, and we’re already looking forward to next year.
