Mount Mary College in Community Classes are Starting Soon!

Earn 10.5 College Credits for Just $30.00

Milwaukee Achiever is again offering an exciting opportunity for qualified adult learners who want to begin work on a college degree in a comfortable, supportive learning environment. Our partnership with Mount Mary College makes beginning the college experience affordable and accessible to learners who might never have considered pursuing a college degree.

Registration is opening for the Mount Mary College in Community (MMCIC) program, which is a bridge-to-college learning experience for adults who are willing to invest their time, dedication and hard work in earning college credits. Class size is limited, and placement is made on a first-come, first-served basis. Interested students should call Milwaukee Achiever at 414-463-7389 to make a registration appointment. Registrations will be accepted on Monday, August 10, 2009 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.; continuing on Tuesday, August 11, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Both registration sessions will be held at Milwaukee Achiever’s Silver Spring Center, 5566 North 69th Street, Milwaukee, WI, 53218.

The focus of the program is on college level writing skills, with an emphasis on computer and keyboarding skills and business writing using Microsoft Word. Students will begin their classes at Milwaukee Achiever’s Silver Spring Center, where they earn 2.5 college credits. The classes meet for 3 hours every week for fourteen weeks. There is homework after every class, and tests are required to focus learning and track progress.

Students earn an additional 8 credits on the Mount Mary College campus during the next three semesters. Required courses at Mount Mary offer further instruction in writing as well as computing with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint. The final course is an elective chosen by the student. Through the MMCIC program students can earn a total of 10.5 college credits. Credits earned are also transferrable to Milwaukee Area Technical College.

The cost of the entire program is $30.00, which must be paid in full at registration. The fee is not refundable. Learners must not miss any more than 2 of the fourteen classes to continue in the MMCIC program, and students may not repeat the class for free should they drop out.
