Gloria’s Garden at Pierce Center
Pierce Center is greener and much more colorful thanks to an enthusiastic group of landscape volunteers who created a memorial garden in honor of Gloria Scherr, a long-time Milwaukee Achiever tutor who unexpectedly passed away in February of 2009. Gloria made many friends among the Saturday volunteers, and a number of them donated beautiful plants, a memorial sign, and their design expertise and labor to give the Pierce Center green space a much-needed upgrade. We want to give special thanks to volunteer tutor Michael Grossman for his help in funding and coordinating the project.
