Readers as Writers Contest Winners
Several Milwaukee Achiever adult learners will soon be able to add “published author” to their resumes. They are winners in the 2009 Readers as Writers Contest and will be honored at a reception held at Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC) on Tuesday, May 12, 2009.
The following adult learners submitted winning entries, and their work will be published in this year’s book, The Fabric of Life:
- Victor Garcia – “My Second Home”
- Humberto Guerra – “Summer Memories in Mexico”
- Janette Hill – “Something New”
- Katarzyna Kasztelaniec – “Learning English as a Challenge and Necessity”
Receiving honorable mention were the following adult learners:
- Denisha Cox – “About My Life”
- Saule Dalcher – “I Have to Do as Much as I Can”
- Rhonda Hunt – “A Fascinating Person”
The Readers as Writers series is a collection of writing and artwork created by adult learners throughout Wisconsin and is published by The Key, an MATC adult literacy newspaper.
